Vercel releases Zero, a systems language whose compiler speaks JSON to AI agents

Vercel Labs released an experimental low-level systems programming language in the same design space as C, Rust, and Zig, built from the ground up so AI coding agents are the intended consumers of compiler output, diagnostics, and repair guidance. Initial traction has been substantial for a language at v0.1.1. The GitHub repository crossed 1,500 stars within the first 48 hours, and Vercel chief technology officer Malte Ubl shared an experiment claiming a rewrite of the JavaScript runtime bun in Zero had reached a 98.7 percent test pass rate within roughly 22 hours of work.
